AUSTIN KENDIG

TWO-TIME KID KART NATIONALS
NATIONAL CHAMPION

2012 COMER UNRESTRICTED ~ 2010 COMER RESTRICTED

Founded in 2009, Kendig Motorsports is a family kart racing team based in Mansfield, Connecticut. The two-kart team fields an Italian-constructed PCR cadet kart powered by a Yamaha KT-100 motor, and an Avanti kid kart powered by a Comer C-50 engine.

The team is owned and operated by Tysen and Leslie Kendig, who relocated to Connecticut in 2013. The team’s veteran driver is Austin Kendig, who became the first driver in U.S. karting history to capture the Kid Kart National Championship in both the Comer restricted (2010) and unrestricted (2012) classes. His younger brother, Colton Kendig, begins his karting career in 2013.

In 2013, the team is competing in the inaugural United States Pro Kart Series and the WKA's New Jersey Sprint Series, along with select races at club circuits in the Northeast.

From 2010 to 2012, the team partially competed in the kid kart series at 61 Kartway in Delmar, Iowa. There, Austin earned a kid kart-series leading 16 feature victories in 23 starts at 61 Kartway over those three partial seasons, en route to claiming consecutive track championships in 2010 and 2011.

The team also competed in 2011 and 2012 in the World Karting Association’s regional Midwest Sprint Series, which staged race weekends throughout the summer at major tracks in Illinois, Minnesota, and Wisconsin. In Austin’s final year in the series’ kid kart class, he raced to a runner-up finish in the season points championship.

Kendig Motorsports is affiliated with Excel Racing, which provides year-round support for the team. Austin signed as a charter Excel Racing team driver in 2011, and Colton accepted a team spot in 2013. The team’s Yamaha engines are constructed by Switch Racing Engines, and its Comer motors are built by Excel Racing and Phil Carlson with tuning support from Drake Racing.

This site was created to keep a photographic and written journal of the Kendig boys’ racing hobby, for the enjoyment of family and friends. Please explore the links at the top of the page, and support our sponsors below with your patronage and messages of thanks for supporting youth karting.
